Mayors March for Meals

The Johnson County Nutrition program, a service of the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging (AAA), participated March 23 in the March for Meals program sponsored by the Meals on Wheels Association of America. The annual national campaign is designed to increase public awareness of the contributions of Meals on Wheels programs across the United States, to recruit volunteers, and to increase funding for meal programs.

The AAA invited mayors of Johnson County cities to show their support by delivering Meals on Wheels routes in their communities. Participating mayors were David Anderson, De Soto; Jerry Wiley, Fairway; Laura McConwell, Mission; Adrienne Foster, Roeland Park; and David Drovetta, Gardner.

A special thank-you is extended to the mayors who took time from their busy schedules to take part in this important day. It was an especially meaningful way to recognize the significance of the Meals on Wheels program and its valued contribution to the community.
