To the Editor:

Evelyn S. Bowman (Letter to the Editor, December 2010) would be pleased, but not surprised, to learn of the reputation of The Best Times amongst the area writing community.

Whenever I take a copy of The Best Times to a regional writers' group meeting, I know I will not be bringing it home with me—it will be instead in the hands of an aspiring writer who lives outside of Johnson County.

Recently, at the Kansas Authors Club annual convention, someone mentioned that a piece they had written had been accepted for publication in The Best Times. Came a plaintive sigh from the other side of the room: "I wish we had a Best Times."
