Letter to the editor |
Dear Editor:
In the March issue I read with interest one man's story about the bridge at Remagen, Germany. Countless stories have been written about how it was discovered and captured through pluck and daring, almost undamaged. No book about the war in Europe fails to mention it; several books have been written about its capture alone. A full-length movie was produced about it and several documentaries, as well.
This is the first time I have read the story from a personal view. I had no idea how difficult and treacherous the crossing of the pontoon bridge could be. Fred Farris' story puts the reader right there. It's a great story, well-written. In it I can see as well the efforts of a most capable editor. My salute to both of you.
