Hotline can field your holiday food questions

I have an 18-pound turkey and want to serve dinner at 2:00 p.m. What time should I put the turkey into the oven?

I only have one oven. Can I use my outdoor kitchen to prepare some of my holiday items?

My sister-in-law insists on stuffing her turkey the night before. How can I convince her it's not safe?

These are just a few of the questions that trained Extension Master Food Volunteers will answer about holiday cooking, food preparation, food safety, and general nutrition through their Holiday Hotline this November and December. The service is provided by the Johnson County K-State Research and Extension office in Olathe.

The hotline will be staffed 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. these Tuesdays and Wednesdays:

  • Nov. 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, and 30
  • Dec. 1, 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22

Just call 913-715-7070 or e-mail food.help@jocogov.org.
