Six Kansas nursing homes have been named recipients of the PEAK (Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas nursing homes) award, which is given each year by the Kansas Department on Aging.

The Evergeen Community of Johnson County, of Olathe, is a repeat winner, having received the PEAK award in 2008.

Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, of Kansas City, Mo., has been named a winner of the 2010 Circle of Life award for its innovative and broad range of services and programs serving patients who face life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. The Circle of Life selection committee is made up of leaders from medicine, nursing, social work, ethics and health administration.
