Ode to the elderly |
Dedicated to the members of AARP Chapter 2333 and all elderly souls who happen to read this.
I looked in the mirror, and what did I see?
An elderly lady looking back at me!
Where did she come from? Why is she here?
I expected that beautiful young girl to appear!
Where has the time gone, I ask in dismay?
I am still enjoying life and ready to play.
I see wrinkles and wisps of gray hair.
My aging body says I am supposed to care!
So I am turning the tables on old Father Time.
I will not play his game of withering prime.
I refuse to rock my days away in obscurity
While seeking questionable security.
My challenge is, "Get off your whats-it" and learn a new step.
Do something wild and crazy—don't worry about your rep!
Dare to have the time of your life.
Thumb your nose at any old strife!
